In 2024, the Asian Research Library established branches in the library of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia and the Chinese Classics Corner of the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology/Faculty of Letters, in accordance with the agreement concluded in 2023.

Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia Library collection covers a wide range of fields, including politics, economics, history, literature, art, and religion of the Asian region, and is characterized by a variety of languages, including Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Persian, Thai, and Turkish, as well as Japanese and Western languages.
In addition to monographs and periodicals, the collection also includes classical Chinese books, newspapers, archival materials, and microforms.
In particular, the library has a large collection of classical Chinese books, many of which are difficult to collect today. Another unique feature of the library is its large collection of modern Chinese books and periodicals.
IASA Library also have a wealth of materials related to South Asia and West Asia.

Chinese Classics Corner Branch
Chinese Classics Corner, Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology / Faculty of Letters Library

The Chinese Classics Corner centralizes and maintains a collection of classical Chinese texts (kanseki) from the various courses in the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Letters, which are use for educational and research purposes. The facility comprises three distinct areas: a "Book Repository" where classical texts are arranged according to the traditional fourfold bibliographical classification, a "Rare Books Repository" for the preservation of valuable manuscripts and prints, and a "Reading Room" equipped with reference materials, computer workstations for users, and a copying machine.
The section is jointly administered by six courses: Chinese Philosophy, Chinese Language and Literature, Oriental History, Korean Studies, Indian Philosophy and Buddhist Studies, and Linguistics, and provides a comprehensive environment for the study of Sinology and related fields. As a specialized departmental library, it houses over 100,000 volumes, including fundamental texts, critical editions, reference works, and original Ming and Qing texts, creating an indispensable resource for daily educational and research activities in related disciplines.
