Materials That Can Be Borrowed
The following materials can be borrowed. In the case of journals, materials that can be borrowed, and users who can borrow them are limited. For the details, please see"Borrowing Journals".

How to Borrow the Materials
Borrowing at the Counter
Please bring the material that you would like to borrow to the counter, and present your student ID/staff ID/library user ID. When you would like to use "Special Loan" / "Research Loan" / "Loan Extension", please tell the library staff.
Borrowing with the Self-checkout Machine
You can use the Self-checkout Machines located in the 1st floor. You cannot do "Special Loan" / "Research Loan" with the Self-checkout Machine.

General Loan
Users Who Can Use This Loan
All members of the University of Tokyo
Loan Conditions
- Maximum number of items: 10 items
- Loan period:
- Undergraduate/graduate students: 2 weeks
- Faculty staff: 30 days
- Number of times that extensions can be made: Maximum of 2 times
- When someone has made a reservation of the material, you cannot make renewals.
- Each time you make an extension, 2 weeks will be extended for undergraduate /graduate students, and 30 days will be extended for faculty staff.
- You can extend the loan period with MyOPAC.
- Reloan: Available
You can borrow the same book again at the Komaba Library counter if there are no reservations from other users, and no stains or damages on it. No overdue penalty is required.
Special Loan
Users Who Can Use This Loan
Students in the Senior Division and graduate students of the University of Tokyo, those who have received an approval from an instructor of the University (pre-application needs to be made)
Loan Conditions

Pre-application
Please fill in the application form and submit it to the counter. The reception hours are 9:00 - 17:00 on weekdays.
Also, please make sure that the instructor, not the person who is applying, writes "Instructor's Affiliation" and "Instructor's Name".

- When you are borrowing materials, please tell the library staff at the counter that you would like to borrow them using "Special Loan".
- You will not be able to borrow materials using "Special Loan" with the Self-checkout Machine.
- When someone has made a reservation of the material, you will not be able to extend the loan period.
- You can extend the loan period with MyOPAC.
Research Loan

Professors, associate professors, research associates, and full-time lecturers of the College of Arts and Sciences/Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
Materials That Can Be Borrowed
- Materials that have the location of "Komaba.Lib.B1F/B2F.Stack/Stor." when searched on University of Tokyo OPAC.
- Reprint version of Journals
Loan Conditions
- Maximum number of items : 50 items
- Loan period : Until the end of the academic year the material has been borrowed
- Extension : Unavailable
- Reloan: Allowed only specified period at the end of the year(about a week)
Other Information
- When you borrow the material, please tell the library staff that you would like to borrow it using "Research Loan".
- You will not be able to borrow materials using "Research Loan" with the Self-checkout Machine.
- There may be cases where we ask you to return the material, after it has been borrowed for a month.

- Bound journals
- Reprint version of journals
Loan Conditions
- Maximum number of items : 3 items
- Loan period: Until 12:00 of the next day that the library is open
- Extension: Unavailable
ExProcedures for Borrowing
Please bring the bound journals and/or reprint version of the journal you would like to borrow, and your faculty staff /student ID to the counter.
Others
You can borrow reprint version of journals on special/research loan.
Cautions
- Please return the materials by the due date.
- When you have overdue materials, you will have penalties. For further information, please refer "Returning Materials".
