<Komaba Library> Mailing service of borrowing books and photocopying materials

We provide the mailing service of books and photocopy of materials for students of the University of Tokyo who need materials of the Komaba Library and have difficulty coming to the Library.
Since this service is operated by limited number of staff, its content and people eligible are limited.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
 
1.Mailing service of borrowing books
 
1.1 Those eligible (16 June updated)

The University of Tokyo students who need materials of the Komaba Library and have difficulty visiting to your home library.
※ It is not available for faculty/staff of the University of Tokyo and visitors.

If you have overdue books from the Komaba Library, you cannot use this service.

We are resuming transferring materials from the Komaba Library to other campuses. If you are non-member of the Komaba I Campus and can visit your home library, please reserve the book from My OPAC yourself regardless of your status.
 
1.2 Reception period (16 June updated)

From 20 May (Wed) - During temporary closing period
From 17 June (Wed)  to 30 July (Thu) (planned)

1.3 Available materials

Komaba Library materials  (excluding " Not for loan " materials)

※ The following materials are not included.
・Books with the location code "Komaba.Lib.2F.Reference" "Komaba.Lib.2F.Syllabus" “Komaba.Lib.Journals” ”Komaba.Lib.Ichiko-Bunko” ” Komaba.Lib.Large” on the OPAC.
・Books with those status “not for loan” ”Reference” ”on loan” ”HOLD” ”Under return” ”Under dispatch” on the OPAC.
・Books in a bad condition and cannot be sent by mail.
 
1.4 Number of books (16 June updated)

We will expand from 3 books to 5 books (cumulative total) for each person during the period.
If you have already used this service between 20 May and 15 June, 2020, you can apply for up to 5 books including the number of the books. (Example: If you applied for 2 books on 20 May, 2020 and accepted both 2 books, you can apply for 3 more books)

It is difficult to return the books to the Komaba Library now, so if you exceed the usual maximum number of the Komaba Library books, we will lend you the requested books exceptionally.

1.5 Days required

It may take one week from your application to shipping the materials.
We will inform you by email when the materials have been shipped.
Delivery date and time cannot be specified.

 1.6 How to apply

Please fill out the Application form for the  delivery service on the Komaba Library materials bellow.
Applications are accepted via the form from 9:00 to 17:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
When the number of applications reach the maximum number we handle, the reception for the day will be closed before 17:00.  

 
1.7 Shipping fee

The university covers the delivery shipping fee.
Delivery is  only available within Japan.

1.8 Due date (16 June, 20 July updated)

・The due date is 24 June, 30 July, 31 Aug. 2020.
・You can renew the books through MyOPAC before the due date.
・The due date may be extended depending on the situation.

2.Photocopy delivery service on the Komaba Library materials

2.1 Those eligible (16 June updated)

The University of Tokyo students who need materials of the Komaba Library and have difficulty visiting to your home library.
※ It is not available for faculty/staff of the University of Tokyo and visitors.
※ Applications from those writing dissertations will be processed with priority.

We are resuming transferring photocopies of the materials from the Komaba Library to other campuses.

If you are non-member of the Komaba I Campus and can visit your home library, please send your request from MyOPAC yourself regardless of your status.

2.2 Reception period 

From 25 May (Mon) - During temporary closing period
From 17 June (Wed) to 30 July (Thu) (planned)

2.3 Available materials

Komaba Library materials (excluding microforms)
※ The e-DDS service, a service of converting documents into PDF and providing them electronically, is not available.
※ We will email you if it is difficult to copy due to the condition of the material.

2.4 Number of applications 

Up to 5 documents during the period, and up to 60 A4 size sheets per mail.
※Please request within the limit of Japanese copyright law. 
 
2.5 Fee

Copying fee will be charged: monochrome 20 yen/sheet, color 60 yen/sheet.
The university covers the delivery shipping fee.
Payment will be prepaid by bank transfer.

2.6 Notice

You cannot cancel after your request received. 
Delivery date and time cannot be specified.
It may take one week from your application to sending an invoice for the copying fee.
Delivery is only available within Japan.

2.7 How to apply

1) Please fill out the application form for photocopy delivery service on the Komaba Library materials bellow.
2) A confirmation will be sent to your email address after the staff receive your application (Not automatic transmission).
3) When the copy is ready, we will inform you of the fee by e-mail. 
4) Please transfer the fee to the bank account designated by the university and email us the image of the transaction receipt. 
5) We will post the documents as soon as we confirm your payment.

This service ended on 30 July.

When the number of applications significantly exceeds the one that can be managed, the form may be temporarily closed. Reception will be resumed as soon as the issue is resolved.
