
How the Books are Placed within the Library
In the library, the books are placed in order of the call number written on their back labels.
The call number is constructed by the class number, author number, biographee number
(the author number set for the person the biography was written about) and volume number.

About the Label Color
Japanese books have blue labels, foreign books have green labels.
The class number and author number refers to below.
- Japanese Books
- Class Number: NDC 9th edition
- Author Number: Nippon Author Marks
- Foreign Books
- Class Number: DDC ed.21
- Author Number: Cutter-Sunborn Three-Figure Author Table
Class Number
The three digit group number is further classified by the decimal numbers that follows it.
Therefore, the books are ordered in the shelves as below.
Example:910→910.1→910.11→910.2
Author Number (and/ or the Biographee Number)
The author number is first placed in alphabetic order, and then in numeric order.
The biographic number is placed in the same order as the author number.
Example:Ma98→Mo27→Mu54
Volume Number (and/ or the Author Number)
Not all the materials in the library have a volume number.
The books are placed in order of blank ->volume number -> author number.
