About phishing mail promoting the renewal of the loan term

It seems that a phishing mail promoting the renewal of the loan term is being transmitted from a third party unrelated to the University of Tokyo.

The characteristics of e-mail are as follows.

 

  • It is transmitted in HTML format from a fictional mail address "kashiwa@lib.u-tokyo.ac.jp".
  • When you click on the link in the e-mail with contents that urges the borrowing book to update the loan term, it transits to the phishing site unrelated to the University of Tokyo.


If you receive a phishing mail, please do not click the link in the email and delete it.

   Dear Patron

    When you check out materials from the Libraries, you will be able to *Renew and Extend <http://opac-dl-itc-u-tokyo-ac-jp.*****.com/opac/opac_search/?loginMode=…;* your check-out time in most cases. However, borrowed materials are subject to *recall by other library patrons*. In the case of a recall, you *must* return the material before the new due date to avoid overdue fines.

    To renew loans online, please go to *MyOPAC <http://opac-dl-itc-u-tokyo-ac-jp.*****.com/opac/opac_search/?loginMode=…;* and renew book loan from "Check Status loan" menu. You can also renew your book loan at the self-checkout machine or the Library Service Counter.
